Tyler State Park



Tyler State Park is a large state park in Buck County Pennsylvania that has a lot to offer. It is 1,711 acres that includes around 24 miles of trails, camping areas, disc golf and water sports. There are paved, gravel and bridle trails throughout the park that intersect and allow for runners to create a different run every time they come to the park. With the variety in trail surfaces it gives you the option on the type of running that can be completed. With all of the other options in this park it makes it ideal for a full day trip.

What Makes It Great

This park is awesome for running in general with its wide variety of running surfaces. With the paved path it allows for runners to get a faster more intense run in. With the gravel and bridle trails it also gives you options. You can run on the paved path and dirt all in one run due to the intersecting. There are about 10 miles of paved trails which are mainly used by bikes. There is 4 miles of gravel trails that are designated for hiking and 9 miles of bridle trails for horseback riding. All of these trails are perfect for running and hiking. The gravel and bridle trails will allow you to run without your legs taking a pounding.

Also, all of these trails are within a state park that has a lot to offer. There is a 27 hole disc golf course, fishing, boating, canoeing and picnic areas. The park is the perfect place to go for a run on one of the many trails then have a picnic followed by a round of disc golf. Tyler State Park is a great place to run and spend a weekend.

With all of the different trail surfaces you can get all sorts of run out of one park which is awesome and hard to find. The park also has a ton to offer for non runners and that makes it fun for everyone. Anyone that enjoys being outside and having fun in nature will enjoy the time they spend at Tyler State Park.

Directions, Parking, & Regulations

From downtown Philadelphia get onto I-95 N towards Chester/Trenton. Stay on I-95 N at the fork and then you will stay on I-95 N for about 25 miles. Take exit 49 for PA-332 towards Newtown/Yardley. Turn left onto PA-332 W next continue onto PA-413 N/PA-532 N. Finally make a left onto Main Park Road. Once on Main Park Rd you will find parking and from any parking spot you will be able to connect to one of the trails.
