Review

Umstead State Park is the "Crown Jewel" for running trails within minutes of Raleigh, Chapel Hill and Durham. Head to the northeast corner of the parking lot to get to the Loblolly trail head.  Loblolly offers 2.7 miles of trail, which can be used as an out and back route or part of a loop with other sections of the Umstead Bridal trail.  Loblolly is clearly marked by blue squares nailed to the trees on the trail.  Running this trail is ideal in the spring, summer, and early fall seasons. Loblolly is well marked by blue squares nailed to the trees on the trail, and there is easy access from the Reedy Creek parking lot http://www.ncparks.gov/Visit/parks/wium/directions.php
