The Canyons Resort has more than 20 miles of cross-country singletrack and the only lift serviced flow riding park in Utah. Mountain bikers ride the Red Pine Gondola to 8,000-feet with their bikes to access some of Park City’s most popular trails that include the Mid Mountain trail and Wasatch Crest trail.
What Makes It Great
The Canyons Bike Park has downhill trails with a variety of dirt and wood features for riders of all abilities. In 2013 Split Decision, a custom-built freeride trail, was added. It has ladder and wood bridge features that set riders up for mandatory gaps and drops. Ride this if you’re looking for a good taste of freeride and extreme fun. Split Decision requires advanced to expert level abilities to be ridden safely.
There are two skills parks at the bike park and four skill-level trails with a variety of features. The lift-serviced bike park is accessed from the High Meadow and Short Cut chairlifts—both located at the Red Pine Mid-mountain Adventure Area.
Canyon Mountain Rentals in the Resort Village provides both bike rental and repair. They offer top-of-the-line downhill and cross-country bike rentals from Cannondale, GT and Schwinn. There are also bike clinics for those that are new to the sport or who want to improve on their techniques and skills in the mountain biking realm. There is a guided cross-country biking tour for experienced mountain bikers. Anyone involved in a clinic or tour is asked to arrive at least 15 minutes early; 30 minutes early if you need to rent a bike or equipment. Reservations are required 48 hours in advance. Visit the Canyons Bike Clinic & Tours site for more information.
Mountain bikers are required to wear helmets. Riding gloves are recommended to help prevent blisters. If you’re planning to hit the Canyons Bike Park, you may want to add a little more protective gear such as elbow and knee pads. If you have your own flat repair/tool kit, pack it with you as well. Bring plenty of hydration and snacks. There are places to eat at the Resort Village for summer dining if you wish to have a bite other than what you packed.
