Mission Bay is over 4,200 acres, and is the largest waterpark of its kind in the world. The park is made up of 27 miles of shoreline and surrounding waterways and inlets. One of the most fun ways to explore the park is by kayak. There are several places around the bay, where you can rent kayaks if you don't have your own, and whether you are a beginner or expert you are bound to enjoy the beautiful scenery here.
What Makes It Great
Mission Bay is a wonderful place to paddle the shoreline for kayakers and stand-up paddleboards. Options to explore the various inlets, marshes, and streams adds to the fun of being out on the water. The beaches are wonderful destinations in themselves and some feature big enough waves for SUPers to try and catch for a little surf action.
After kayaking around the bay, be sure to take advantage of the many grassy picnic areas at Mission Bay Park. Hang out with friends or family or get some more exercise by taking a run. Enjoy kayaking on beautiful Mission Bay!
Who is Going to Love It
Paddlers of all levels will enjoy the scenery and the variety of options, from short outings to all day exploration. It's also a good place to try either kayaking or SUPing for the first time, thanks to the typical water conditions in the inlets and closer to shore.
