This 5-mile run through the Embarcadero (meaning "landing place"), offers one of the most scenic and continuous views in Southern California. This is a great route for getting in a solid workout while simultaneously rewarding yourself with beautiful ocean vistas.
What Makes It Great
Starting at the San Diego Convention Center, you will run along the water's edge around the San Diego Harbor right past the USS Midway museum ship at the Navy Pier. Turn around at the Broadway Pier and then head back past the convention center until you get to the Hilton.
The paved path makes for a smooth surface, but you may have to weave around other visitors, runners, or cyclists along the way. If you want an extra challenge, run up the steps of the convention center after you finish (there are 100 steps to the top!).
There are several restaurants and businesses in the area where you can stop in after your run. There are also several hotels where you can stay if you are coming in from out of town.
Who is Going to Love It
Beautiful and easily accessible, the Embarcadero is a great place to get in a decent run, or take a walk with your family. A great place to stay, there are a couple museums, dinner cruises, beaches nearby, and lots of boats for little ones to look at.
