Intro
The Fay Avenue Bike Path runs through one of the nicest neighborhoods in San Diego, and the experience is only enhanced by the ocean air and sweeping coastal views. The neighborhood itself is relatively quiet and scenic, as many of the residents have contributed to the beautification of the trail with their own plants or landscaping. This path isn't that long, if you're looking for an easy running or cycling route and don't mind sharing your route with other active people, then La Jolla is the place for you.
What Makes It Great
The 2.4-mile round-trip run along the La Jolla Bike Path is an easy route that takes you through the beautiful La Jolla, CA. The path, which is also known as the Fay Avenue Bike Path, starts at La Jolla High School and winds through Northern Hermosa to Bird Rock. Be sure to bring a camera or your phone, because you will have some amazing views of the coast from this elevated trail.
The path is mostly paved with some dirt sections and is lined with a variety of vegetation, including prickly pear cacti, agave plants, and mature eucalyptus trees.
Also, because it's a bike path, many cyclists can be found riding along this route at any point during the day.
Who is Going to Love It
The manageable nature of this run makes it a good option for introducing the family to San Diego road running- whether it's a reluctant spouse, a beginner child, or a relative from out of town who's looking for a neat way to see one of San Diego's beautiful neighborhoods.
