Intro

Richardson's Bay is a pristine estuary near San Francisco Bay. The calm quiet waters offer an amazing experience for kayakers. Explore the inner tidal habitats that are rich with eelgrass and wild birds.

What Makes It Great

Bring along binoculars and a guide book to see how many species you can identify. See if you can spot a California clapper rail. Observant and patient paddlers will see harbor seals, pelicans, cormorants and sea lions, and in the spring, you may even be able to claim a gray whale sighting. This bay’s smooth waters have also become a favorite spot for standup paddle board enthusiasts.

Who is Going to Love It

SUPers and those looking for a casual paddle with the potential of surprise visits from the marine life will love this area! It's a hit with birders too. The inner estuary is especially relaxing for a day on the water.
