Golden Gate Park covers over 1,000 acres, giving it countless trails and paths for every runner and walker. From the short Stow Lake loop to the 7.4-mile loop around the perimeter of the park to the track workouts at Kezar Stadium, you can tailor your run or hike to whatever suits your fancy.
What Makes It Great
Since there are so many options, it helps to bring a map from the visitor center along with you. There are frequently events at the polo fields or museums, and the visitor's center and park's website usually have information about these events as well as any possible closures. Initially you may get a bit confused, but other runners (and there are lots!) will certainly help you find your way. Solo or with a group of friends, Golden Gate Park is a great choice for an easy city run.
Who is Going to Love It
Runners who need to focus more on their run rather than driving out to a trailhead will enjoy the urban setting of Golden Gate Park. The mileage is long enough for a legit workout as well.
