The Cabrillo bike path is a flat and easy bike path following the coast of Santa Barbara's downtown area from Leadbetter Beach to the Butterfly Beach. Large grassy area's in Chase Palm Park are good for picnics and pick up sports. There is a skate park the the East side of the pier, and beach access running all along the bike trail. Bike and tandem bike rentals are available along the waterfront rent, giving you the ability to see all of the beach along the bike path in one day.
What Makes It Great
This path becomes particularly crowded with bikers and runners on the weekends and in the summer. Restaurants and public restrooms are available. Paid and free parking is available along Cabrillo Blvd. and in the surrounding neighborhoods.
It's a fun, mellow place to cruise along the beach. It's a good place to bring the kiddos too, since it's a flat, paved path.
Who is Going to Love It
Those happy to tour the beach will appreciate the ease and access of the bike path. It's family friendly and though crowded at times, is a nice place to pedal, jog, walk, or rollerblade.
Directions, Parking, & Regulations
There are several access points -- the path begins in downtown Santa Barbara and can be accessed from several areas. If you're downtown, Cabrillo Boulevard has the most common access.
