Tequepis Trail

The Tequepis Trail could be some of the smoothest, single track in the Santa Barbara region. A lot of mountain bikers shuttle this run by parking at the Gun Club on West Camino Cielo, while others prefer an out and back from the Circle V trailhead. It's 9-miles when done this way, which is the perfect distance for a solid, but manageable workout.

What Makes It Great

There's about 3,000 ft. of elevation gain, so your lungs will be challenged along the way.  Not only is this trail really popular among mountain bikers, but it's also loved by hikers and trail runners. With gorgeous views of Cachuma Lake it is no surprise it's such a popular place. There are also beautiful views of the California coast from the summit.

Who is Going to Love It

Who doesn't love fast, smooth singletrack? The climbing may wear out less experienced riders, but it's worth the effort. The flow, speed, and beauty of this trail are what mountain biking is all about.

Directions, Parking, & Regulations

To reach the Tequepis Trail, take the Camp Whittier signed road off the 154 (just past the Cachuma Lake entrance if approaching from the north). Stay left at the fork towards Circle V, where parking awaits. The trailhead is past the campground.
