Leadbetter Beach

New to surfing? Then this is your beach. The waves are 'wee, but not so 'wee that you can't catch a good ride. This is an excellent place to give the sport a try - or to give stand up paddleboarding a whirl.

What Makes It Great

Leadbetter is typically forgiving and mushy, making it a good place for those just learning to surf. The small point break is a favorite especially for longboarders and stand up paddlers. Leadbetter is often swarming in the summer and on weekends with tourists and locals alike. The proximity to the downtown area makes this beach a very popular destination.

Paid parking and facilities are available onsite, and there are even some free parking sites found in the surrounding area on top of the cliff. If you're interested in SUP-ing rather than surfing, Stand Up Paddlboard rentals are available from CIO- a rental company that operates out of a trailer right on the beach.

Who is Going to Love It

It's a great place for beginners, though experienced surfers may still have fun dinking around on the small but reliable waves. It's a fun beach, though it can get a bit hectic in the summer.
