The Lower Meramec Trail is a short 2 mile long paved trail that follows the Meramec River in South St. Louis County.  It also has a connecting loop with the unpaved 1.2 mile Tall Timbers Trail.    The terrain is flat and the hiking is easy.   This is a perfect place for an early morning or sunset walk with great scenic views of the Meramec River.   The trail is open to hikers and cyclist.  There are abundant deer, wild turkey, and wildflowers.  With a short distance of only 2 miles this trail is best suited to family bike rides.  There are parking areas at each end of the trail system.   This trail is maintained by the St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation.
