Want to join our growing network of outdoor enthusiasts?

There are three ways we currently work with writers and photographers, and we'd be more than happy to work with you in one (or all three of these ways).

1. Trail Crew Contributions: Destination review writing to help us create a go-to online resource for people to find outdoor recreation across the entire country. We're looking for enthusiastic people who love where they live. Learn more about the Trail Crew and get started today.

2. Freelance Story Pitches: Feel free to pitch us any outdoors-related stories that come to you, and we'll see if there's any place to fit them into our editorial calendar. We're currently very interested in National Parks related content, as well as features about interesting, unique destinations or any stories with unique and/or emotionally engaging angles. We pay for 700-1,000 word features. Learn more about writing for RootsRated.

3. Custom Content Projects: We're constantly working with a wide range of brands in the outdoor industry (including Marmot, ExOfficio, Salomon, etc.) to create custom content that fits their marketing initiatives. If any of these requested stories happen to fall under your areas of expertise, we will reach out to you to gauge your availability, pay rate, and interest level. Include a rough outline of your areas of expertise (i.e. what regions/ outdoor places you're familiar with and what your sports of choice are). Learn more about writing for RootsRated.
