Why wait for the weekend to have a fine craft beer? If you’re looking for a unique craft brewery near Birmingham, Georgia, take a drive over to Monday Night Brewing. Although they are an Atlanta-based brewery, it is worth the 45-minute drive for the atmosphere and perfectly designed brew. The Brewhouse is located in Atlanta’s Westside, a quick hop (pardon the pun) from downtown, I-75 and I-85.
The idea behind their name and slogan “Weekends are Overrated” comes from their humble beginnings. Monday Night Brewing surprisingly started as a Bible study group. When one of the members decided to try out a new brewing kit, it caught on like wildfire. Since then, the quality of beer and depth of flavor has not disappointed its patrons.
One of the first things you’ll notice as soon as you walk in the door is a wall covered in neckties of all shapes and colors. Although a neon sign says “Tie One On”, the wall of ties actually has a different message: loosen up your tie and enjoy a great drink, conversation and fellowship! The industrial cage lights and wide, open space makes you feel like you’re in a garage, hanging out with friends. In the Spring, Summer and Fall, take it outside where you’ll find long wooden tables to relax and enjoy the sunshine or cool breeze. The laid-back, clean atmosphere invites you to sit down and stay a while (after you grab a drink, of course).
The entire business exudes fun and casual, down to their labels and titles. Monday Night Brewery frames their flavors into catchy titles such “Blind Pirate”, “Nerd Alert” and “Drafty Kilt”. The labels depict a man in a business suit saluting the day, with a hilarious spin, such as the “Gun Show” beer from their Black Tie Series where the Label Man’s biceps are bursting out of his sleeves. The clever labels perfectly capture Monday Night’s personality.
Monday Night Brewing has both light beers and dark beers, intentionally balanced to pair well with your favorite meal. They offer fascinating tours of their facilities to learn about their brewing process and ogle over their impressive toys that put out 3,000 bottles per hour. More beer, more happiness. But if tours are not enough for you, try one of their many tastings. For $10, you can taste six of their delicious flavors and take home a souvenir pint glass. Oh, and it also includes a tour. Well worth the ten bucks in our opinion.
If you’re in the mood to try new flavors, or if you just simply have a hankering for a good, quality brew, you can’t go wrong with Monday Night Brewing. Come for the beer. Stay for the fun.
