Reel Rock brings it back to the big screen once again for the ninth edition of its worldwide adventure film tour. Prepare yourself for sweaty palms and heart-stopping moments as Sender Films and Big UP Productions make it possible for us rock pulling fans to see what the real big dogs are up to out there. This year the tour features a documentary called Valley Uprising: Yosemite's Rock Climbing Revolution. The documentary highlights the beginning days of Valley climbing when these massive granite walls were first attempted. Rock star legends like Royal Robbins, Yvon Chouinard, Chuck Pratt and Steve Roper talk about the adventures, challenges, rebellion and rivalry that embodied rock climbing in the 60's. The film also stars Dean Potter, Lynn Hill, Alex Honnold, Tommy Caldwell and more.
As you're watching the film, known for its striking and breathtaking cinematography, it's good to know that part of the proceeds of the showings go to non-profits like the Southeastern Climbers' Coalition, the Access Fund, and the American Alpine Club. Organizations that are all instrumental in ensuring that we get to continue to enjoy the outdoors.
In Chattanooga, we get the opportunity to watch this years Reel Rock film at the IMAX theater downtown, bringing us even closer to the action. Seating is limited so get your tickets as soon as possible. The theater is just a few steps away from High Point Climbing & Fitness if you want to get some routes in before the show, or why not grab a slice at Lupi's or a brew at the Big River Grille & Brewing Works to get the evening started off just right? We'll see you there.
