The Reel Rock Film Tour stopped in Chattanooga just last week, and now it’s time for Atlanta to get its share of this worldwide film tour. This year’s documentary, Valley Uprising: Yosemite’s Rock Climbing Revolution, highlights the progression of climbing from a fringe sport to a full-blown culture in Yosemite Valley during the 1960s and 70's.
In Atlanta, the film viewing is hosted by the specialty outdoor retail store, High Country Outfitters. The outdoor amphitheater makes for a great backdrop to the adventure movie. High Country Outfitters will be selling raffle tickets to win prizes like North Face jackets, Smith sunglasses, rock climbing shoes and gift certificates.
While you are taking your chances on prizes, you’ll know that regardless of whether or not you win, proceeds from tickets, the raffle, and beer go toward Catalyst Sports, which provides climbing opportunities to disabled climbers.
In the spirit of the outdoors and Halloween, you’re encouraged to dress up as your favorite retro climber. For noshes, a few food trucks will make appearances, like Yumbii who is known for their street-style tacos. And local Sweetwater brews will be on tap. New on the list is the heady double IPA “Hop Hash.”
